New Nintendo DS.

I heard that they're making a new DS. It has a camera and music player. =OOOO

They said in an article (I lost it) that they were planning that they were making a new DS when the lite sales went down.

Yeah, but still, it is from a reliable Japanese newspaper.

They're announcing it officially later this week, I've heard.

I think it's weird that they'd schedule to release the new device "later this year," which doesn't give the market a whole lot of time to anticipate it. They probably like to announce stuff late to give their last product (i.e., the DS Lite) as much time in the spotlight as possible... but I think that really pisses off people who bought Lites. =/

Far as the actual product goes, I've got mixed expectations. First off, why a camera? It's barely useful to anyone who carries cameras or camera-phones around with them, which could be near every DS owner (at least ones my age, lol...). Tilt sensor > Camera.

And I personally have had one major problem with the DS Lite's design: the horrible GBA slot. It's tiny. Compactness is well and good, but whyyyy did they have to have GBA games stick out like that... it just looks dumb. Really, really dumb. Now that I have a working GBA, I can't say I care whether this new DS can even play GBA games at all; I just hope that if it does, it doesn't just play half the game. >_<

And now, the cool stuff: SD cards. The possibility of transferring data from a Wii to the DS might give me a reason to buy them. Come ooon, Virtual Console games on a handheld. Kirby 64 DS nao plz.

Well, yeah. It's bad business sense to wait until sales of a previous product go down before cooking up something new. They probably had this in mind since shortly after the Lite launched, and it's showing with products like the DS Browser and Media Player that they're aiming to make their handhelds more versatile. Kinda like how consoles are becoming more and more computer-like.

Personally, I'm actually kinda excited. :O I don't have a camera or any music player, tbh, so.. ^_^;

I haven't read about it much in depth though. >_>; Otherwise I'd say more on it.

Might get one, dunno. My current DS ((Not even Lite, >.<)) is really crappy and out of shape, top screen has colour problems, bad touch thing, etc...
