| Subject: Joun's Ruby party, revamped for DP Sun Apr 06, 2008 4:15 pm | |
| I generally give my teams "names" after the game in which I first put them together. My original DP party has been disbanded, and in the wake of their catastrophic failure, I'm training up a party slightly revised from my Ruby version, the most successful party I've had so far. I'm not extremely picky about Natures and IVs, so I hope I wasn't too careless here.
Breloom @ Toxic Orb Nature: Relaxed EVs: 252 Atk, 128 Spd, 128 HP ~ Seed Bomb ~ Drain Punch ~ Sky Uppercut ~ Leech Seed The main thing I had in mind with this one is to take advantage of her Ability Poison Heal (hence the Toxic Orb). It restores health when she's poisoned, so it keeps her healthy and also guards from other statuses. Leech Seed and Drain Punch are in case Poison Heal alone isn't fast enough, and Sky Uppercut and Seed Bomb are standard moves for use if the enemy is weak to one of those types. (Looking at YOU, Swampert).
Swellow @ [no item yet, will likely have Sky Plate] Nature: Naive EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP ~ Quick Attack ~ Steel Wing ~ Aerial Ace ~ Fly Nothing too above-par here. In fact, my awesome strategies are pretty much over; that Breloom is probably the best thing on my list. <_< Most moves on this guy are standard for fliers except perhaps for Steel Wing, which I threw in to help against Rock-types.
Blaziken @ Can't decide between Flame and Fist plate Nature: Modest EVs: 128 Atk, 128 SAtk, 252 Spd ~ Quick Attack ~ Sky Uppercut ~ Flamethrower ~ Blaze Kick Probably not the best nature for Blaziken as it cuts his Attack, but to avoid having to raise another Torchic, I just want to see how this one turns out. As you can tell from the EVs, I plan to make him a mixed sweeper, but will probably end up with something a bit different due to the nature.
Walrein @ Icy Rock Nature: Docile EVs: 252 SAtk, 128 Def, 128 SDef ~ Ice Beam ~ Hail ~ Blizzard ~ Surf Main reason I'm keeping Hail is because of his ability Ice Body, which restores health during hail. The point of the Icy Rock is to make it last longer. Aside from that, this guy's pretty standard. Not exactly a sweeper, but I want him to be able to take a beating and dish one out as he did in Ruby.
Manectric @ Zap Plate Nature: Hardy EVs: 252 SAtk, 252 Spd ~ Thunderbolt ~ Ice Fang ~ Charge ~ Thunder The all-out special sweeper of the team. Not much to be said here, as the tactics I plan to use are obvious. Hit fast, hit hard.
Absol "Hayate" @ Razor Claw or Scope Lens, if either one is better <_< Nature: Hasty EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd ~ Quick Attack ~ Night Slash ~ Double Team ~ Psycho Cut Manectric's partner in crime, the physical sweeper. She's built to be a critical-hit machine, as evidenced by the high critical rate moves, ability Super Luck, and Razor Claw/Scope Lens. She's also the only one on the team with a nickname. =)
Some of the above pokemon haven't been fully trained yet, so if you have any recommendations for changing the EVs, please add those to your review. Thanks!

| On Absol, I think that Scope Lens is better.
What's with the Manetric knowing Ice fang? | |

| It's an egg move, his father is my first Walrein. I question its usefulness though, since his Attack is atrocious. | |

| It's not that good. Good Moves for him are: Discharge/Thunderbolt, Charge, Flamethrower, and Toxic. | |
