- Physicists have come up with a way to explain how information could escape from a black hole, an idea that's been debated since the 1970s.
But the new proposal leaves the long-held concept of a space-time continuum in tatters.
Whether you've been following the arguments over the years or not, now might be a good time to reach for some aspirin, as space-time continuum textbooks may have to be revised. Space-time is a "rift" if you would, not broke by anything, not by blackholes or wormholes. If this rift were broke it would send out a ripple that would effectivle flow threwout the universe. Lets look at time, it's now and then, if you travle back in time, space would not exist, and for the STC (space-time continum) to be non continues, but blocks it would have to have breaks in it. | |

| I'm sorry, but to me this just screams Fullmetal Alchemist... (Reveals endings and details of the series and movie.) - Spoiler:
In Amesteris, the universe where the series takes place, there's the Alchemic Gate through which energy, and sometimes matter, is channeled. Alchemists harness this energy to transmute stuff, and then probably (I haven't completely cracked the theory behind the series yet) is sent back to the other (our) side of the Gate.
So what if in our universe, the Gate is at the center of black holes? It's not really a gate you can just kinda walk through; it exists between universes so it could really be anywhere. And nobody really knows what goes on at the center of a black hole anyway; for all we know the spacetime-shattering singularity ripping holes in our universe could be draining stuff into Amesteris, so the matter and energy isn't really gone for good. This would adhere to the laws of thermodynamics in that while the total mass of our universe could be changing, the combined mass of our universe and Amesteris is not.
What's more, In the final episode of the series, and the movie, Conqueror of Shamballa, it is believed (by Edward and Alphons, as well as the villains) that space travel holds the key to finding the Gate in our universe and crossing over into Shamballa (Amesteris).
Seriously, them astrophysicists need to watch some anime! XD
